Free astronomy events to be Friday, Saturday The Arkansas Oklahoma Astronomical Society will host free stargazing events Friday and Saturday.
Friday’s event will be 7-11: 15 p.m. at the Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center in Barling. Participants will see Saturn, the moon and deepsky objects from telescopes provided by the society.
Saturday’s program will be 7: 45-11: 45 p.m. at Coleman Observatory near Van Buren and will feature views of the crescent moon, Mars and Saturn.

Park employees are working to remove downed trees and the trail will reopen as soon as possible, according to a National Park Service news release. The Battle Loop of the trail system remains open.
