the clouds eventually cleared so guests could enjoy a pleasant evening at the Bud Pavilion. Invitees included doctors with MANA (Medical Associates of Northwest Arkansas ) and members of the MANA Charitable Foundation board, although it was open to the public.
Guests paid $ 20 each and $ 10 for children 12 and under to watch the game from the pavilion and enjoy a buffet dinner of hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, cole slaw and potato salad. Face painting was one of several activities for children.
SPRINGDALE — Some doctors and their families and friends gathered at Arvest Ballpark recently to watch the Northwest Arkansas Naturals beat their in-state rivals, the Arkansas Travelers, but the real winner was the MANA Charitable Foundation, which raised $ 9, 000 for breast cancer education and the foundation’s health-care worker benevolence fund.
Weather threatened the spirits of those attending the group’s April 25 fundraiser, titled “Take Me Out to the Ball Game,” but During a silent auction, Dr. Tommy Hinton won a “Little Martin” Guitar by Martin & Co., donated by Blue Moon Music. A Naturals baseball basket donated by FirstCare Family Doctors was bought by Nathan West.
The event committee included Katie Watts, Xochitl Baxter, Judy Harris, Tara Stone, Carol Masterson and Larissa Weatherall.
The Naturals bested the Travelers 3-0 and won the threegame series.
