City OKs rezoning near Arvest Ballpark

SPRINGDALE — The City Council on Tuesday approved the rezoning of 39. 1 acres west of Arvest Ballpark owned by real estate agent Philip Taldo from agricultural to general commercial.
Taldo said he was doing what was needed to make the property marketable for future development.
“Why wait ?” Taldo said. “I chose to get that issue out of the way.”
Taldo said a couple of investors have approached him, but he was not specific as to what plans were discussed. Taldo, however, did say he might first develop his property with an interim use.
He’s considered creating a driving range, which relies on a big piece of land rather than extensive infrastructure, or a drivein theater, which can hold other events, such as bike rallies and car shows, he said.
“It’s something that wouldn’t be there in 10 to 15 years,” he said.
