The hog statue stolen from the Gardens at Razorback Road at the University of Arkansas is back on campus.

Two people discovered “a big lump wrapped in plastic” about 10 p. m. Monday near the Randal Tyson Track Center and called police, said UA Police Department spokesman Lt. Gary Crain.

Crain said that the pig was dusted, but no fingerprints were found. He did not have an exact weight of the pig, but said it would definitely be a two-person job.

Whether the two people who discovered the statue were responsible is not known, Crain said.

“They called us to report that they had found it, so that’s what we’re going on,” he said.

The statue was discovered missing Oct. 1, Crain said. Some type of security measures will be installed with the statue when it returns to the popular tailgating spot on Razorback Road, he said.

“Someone else might get the idea that this is a good prank, and we don’t want to get that started,” Crain said.

The investigation will continue into the theft.

“The most important thing is that it’s back and it’s not damaged,” Crain said.
