Parkway section to open Monday

SPRINGDALE — A section of Don Tyson Parkway is expected to open Monday, a construction manager said. Tom Webb with Construction Dynamics Group, the company overseeing the Springdale project, said the section set to open connects Turner and Thompson streets. Thompson is also known as U. S. 71 Business. Webb said the traffic signal at Turner is likely to operate in “flash” mode early next week and be functioning fully by Thursday or Friday. The parkway is a $ 38 million corridor linking Butterfield Coach Road to South 48 th Street. Sections east of Turner are still under construction, Webb said. A sales tax approved by
vot-1 ers in 2003 paid for the 5 / 2-mile parkway, a key part of a $ 105 million bond issue for city road projects.
