Sept. 12 with a performance by John and Paula Kasica of the St. Louis Symphony. The concert, “Windfire: Flute and Percussion Spectacular,” will feature music ranging from baroque to vaudeville and will feature African drums, flute and marimba. Other performances in the series include “A Singing Celebration: Vocals and Choir” by Katherine and Edward White on Nov. 18; “Polished Brass: Trumpet and Trombone” by Alexandra Zacharella and Kevin Gebo on Feb. 20; and “Ivory Strings: Piano and Violin” by Rosilee Walker and Linda Fischer on April 7. — ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE Diabetes walk set for Sept. 13 The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation’s eighth annual Walk to Cure Diabetes will begin at 7 p. m. Sept. 13 at the University of Arkansas gardens in Fayetteville. The event will feature a 5 K run and a fun walk. Both events will tour the UA campus. Food and entertainment will be part of the event. — ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE Poker run benefits several charities The Springdale Noon Lions Club will hold its fifth annual charity poker run at 9 a. m. Sept. 13 at Tyson Park’s northwest pavilion in Springdale. A $ 20 donation is required to participate and includes one hand of poker, a meal ticket and a T-shirt. Extra poker hands are $ 5 each. Meal tickets and T-shirts are $ 10. Proceeds will benefit the Lions Club International Foundation, Lions Club World Services for the Blind, Mid-South Lions Sight and Hearing, and the Diabetes Awareness Center.
