JONESBORO — Police arrested two Jonesboro men Wednesday on charges of capital murder and aggravated robbery in the shooting death of a west Jonesboro man Tuesday, Sgt. Todd Nelson of the Jonesboro Police Department said.
Arrested were Cornelius Smith and Sahelian McBroom, Nelson said. The ages of both were not available.
Police are searching for two other suspects in the shooting, Nelson said.
Patrick Colquitt, 30, of Jonesboro was shot at 2: 15 p. m. Tuesday in the backyard of a Broadmoor Road home in west Jonesboro.
Witnesses told police four men brandishing handguns approached Colquitt as he stood outside the residence.
Colquitt ran and was shot once in the upper torso with a small caliber handgun, Nelson said. Colquitt was treated at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, where he died Tuesday evening.
A man with Colquitt was struck in the head by one of the suspects but was not seriously injured, Nelson said.
Nelson said detectives believe robbery was the motive for the shooting.
