States’ disaster funds announced
Posted on Thursday, August 28, 2008
Storm-damaged communities in Arkansas and Oklahoma will be eligible for $ 13. 8 million in disaster funds from the federal government, Arkansas’ congressional delegation announced Wednesday.
The money, set aside in the fiscal year 2008 supplemental appropriations bill, will go to the Economic Development Administration’s Austin Region. The state’s congressional delegation says the money is specifically set aside for recovery projects in Arkansas and Oklahoma, both beset by tornadoes and flooding since February.
The money will help fund repairs and improvement to public infrastructure that wasn’t covered under other disaster programs.
