SPRINGDALE — A man was found dead Monday morning in a blue Ford F-150 pickup that had veered off the road just south of the intersection of Silent Grove and Pump Station roads.

The vehicle could not be seen from the road and was discovered by employees at the nearby Springdale wastewater treatment plant.

The unidentified driver was southbound on Silent Grove when his vehicle left the west side of the road, crashed into a cement guard rail, overturned and landed upside down beneath the bridge at Spring Creek, Springdale police reported.

Investigators still are trying to determine when and why the accident occurred. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by the Benton County coroner’s office.
