— ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE Arkansas 4-H celebrates 100 years Benton and Washington county 4-H clubs will celebrate the Arkansas 4-H centennial during their annual summer fun event at 6: 30 p.m. Thursday at the Metroplex Event Center in Rogers. The event will feature food, games and music. Arkansas 4-H began in White County in 1908 with the formation of a corn club. — ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE Federation of the Blind meets Saturday The National Federation of the Blind of Northwest Arkansas will meet from 2-5 p.m. Saturday in room 259 at the Jones Center for Families in Springdale. The group meets the third Saturday of each month. The group will host several coming events to promote awareness of the blind in Northwest Arkansas including a Blind Awareness Walk / Run Oct. 11 at Arvest Ballpark in Springdale; a benefit concert featuring Eddie Sham and the Band on Oct. 11 at Har-Ber High School Performing Arts Center; and a Braille Carnival Oct. 18 at Ozarks Electric Cooperative in Fayetteville.
