Aug. 23 at the Grand Shelter at Prairie Creek in Rogers. The event is designed to educate residents about the Beaver Lake watershed, which serves as the major source of drinking water for Northwest Arkansas, and how the health of the lake and watershed affects water quality. Teams in boats will collect water samples and record clarity measurements. Educational activities at Grand Shelter will include presentations on wildlife, birding and rain gardens. — ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE Car shows, poker run set at festival Main Street Rogers’ annual Frisco Festival, to be held Aug. 22-23, will feature four car shows and a motorcycle poker run. The Summer’s End Corvette Show, organized by the Northwest Arkansas Corvette Club, will feature Corvettes from 1953 to the present. First United Methodist Church will host an antique car show featuring models from the Model A through the 1960 s. The Heartbeat of the Ozarks Show and Shine will feature classic cars, while classic and new Mustangs will be the focus of the Mustang Show and Shine. The Red Knights Arkansas Chapter II, a group of area firefighters and motorcycle enthusiasts, will host a poker run in conjunction with the festival. Registration begins at 8: 30 a. m.
