EL DORADO — A judge from Miller County has been chosen to hear the case of Union County Justice of the Peace Jack Reynolds, who is accused of discharging an assault rifle while in an argument with two hunters.
Reynolds was arrested June 27 on an aggravated-assault charge after a three-month investigation by Arkansas State Police. Thursday, Circuit Judge Jim Hudson was named to hear the case. Judges in Union County recused because Reynolds sits on the Quorum Court, which decides their budgets.
Reynolds is accused of firing in the air in the direction of two men when arguing with them on March 12 about whether they had permission to be on a piece of hunting land.
Reynolds was released after posting a $ 25, 000 bond and surrendering all his firearms.
The 53-year-old Reynolds has been in office since 2001.
