Missouri law enforcement is continuing its investigation into the shooting deaths of a Bentonville man and two other people in Barry County.

A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper discovered the bodies of Carl and Rhonda Miller and Donald Horton near a sports complex in Washburn, Mo., about 10 p.m. Friday.

Autopsies were scheduled Monday in Springfield, although it is unclear when findings may be released, said Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Mike Watson.

Carl Miller, 42, and Rhonda Miller, 39, both lived in Washburn and have been divorced since December, said Barry County Sheriff Micky Epperly.

Donald Horton, 45, was Rhonda Miller’s boyfriend, he said.

The three had met at the sports complex and had talked there for “quite some time,” Epperly said.

He didn’t know exactly what they were discussing but said it likely had to do with the divorce. He speculated that Carl Miller was distraught over the separation.

Neither Epperly nor Watson would give any more information.

The Millers have a 13-year-old daughter and 14-year-old son. They were with relatives at the time of the shooting and will remain with family, Epperly said.
