VA to open clinics in Ozark, Searcy
Posted on Tuesday, July 1, 2008
Arkansas veterans of military service won’t have to travel to a major city to get routine health care after free-standing outpatient clinics planned by the federal Veterans Affairs Department are opened next year in Ozark and Searcy.
Members of the state’s congressional delegation announced in a news release Monday that the two Arkansas clinics would be among 44 community outpatient clinics planned by the VA in 21 states.
According to the release, Ozark and Searcy were selected as sites for the clinics after a “formal process exploring areas that need more” veterans healthcare services.
The announcement came from the state’s two U. S. senators, Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor, both Democrats, and from members of the House representing the two congressional districts where the new clinics will be opened — Republican John Boozman of the 3 rd District and Democrat Vic Snyder of the 2 nd District.
