Governor’s appointments

Dr. Marvin Leibovich of Alexander has been appointed by Gov. Mike Beebe to the State Board of Health, the governor’s office said Wednesday.
The term expires Dec. 31, 2011. He replaces Dr. Jane Sneed.
Leibovich is chairman of the department of emergency medicine in the College of Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He worked for more than 25 years at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, serving as chief of emergency medicine and medical director of the emergency trauma department and the MedFlight helicopter service.
A a certified police officer, Leibovich also is a member of Little Rock and state police special weapons and tactics teams.

To the Arkansas Science and Technology Authority for terms expiring Jan. 14, 2012: Robert Hall, Jr., North Little Rock, reappointed; Joel Harrison, Judsonia, replacing Sue McGowen; and Johnny Hooks, Monticello, reappointed.
To the Arkansas State Athletic Trainers Committee for terms expiring Jan. 14, 2011: Jeff Haynes, Prescott, reappointed; and Lonnie Webber, Searcy, replacing Michael Johnson.
Louis “Bucky” Jones, Fayetteville, to the Crime Victims Reparations Board for a term expiring Oct. 5, 2009, replacing Mary-Marsha Porter.
Don Hale, El Dorado, reappointed to the Arkansas Educational Television Commission for a term expiring March 23, 2016.
Warren Plyler, Hope, to the Red River Commission for a term expiring Jan. 14, 2015, replacing Henry Struckman.
Jim Carr, Searcy, reappointed to the State Forestry Commission for a term expiring Jan. 14, 2017.
Al Davis, Little Rock, reappointed to the Arkansas Fire Protection Licensing Board for a term expiring April 1, 2013.
The Rev. Virgil Turner, Lonoke, was appointed Lonoke County Justice of the Peace for District 10 for a term expiring Dec. 31, 2008, replacing Kyle Lackie.
