CASSVILLE, Mo. — A newborn’s body was found in a southwest Missouri mobile home after a 16-year-old girl was admitted to a hospital complaining of a miscarriage.
The body was found in a plastic bag in Seligman, near the Arkansas-Missouri line, Barry County Sheriff Mick Epperly said Monday.
The 16-year-old girl was taken to an Arkansas hospital Thursday for bleeding and reported a miscarriage, investigators said.
Officials at Northwest Medical Center-Bentonville called police to say that the girl may have given birth.
The girl’s mother later told investigators her daughter had acknowledged the birth and told her where to find the body.
The case remains under investigation.
