JOHNSON — A Fayetteville man was arrested in Kansas this week in connection with the theft of at least $ 140, 000 from the home of Tyson Foods Inc. Chairman John Tyson.
Ryan Matthew Silvey, 19, is being held in lieu of $ 50, 000 bond at the Washington County jail on charges of theft of property. He was arrested Wednesday by the FBI Fugitive Task Force in Olathe, Kan., Johnson police said in a news release.
“I regret this happened and it saddens me, but I’m very grateful to our local police team for all the great work they did to get this resolved,” Tyson said in statement. “I have certainly learned a lesson through this ordeal and will never leave cash in my house again.”
The theft occurred during a party thrown by Tyson’s daughter at the family’s Johnson home.
Arrest warrants were issued Monday for Silvey and for Bryce Kelly Anderson, 19, and Logan Lorenz, 23, both of Fayetteville. Anderson is being sought on a theft of property charge and Lorenz is wanted on a theft by receiving charge. Some of the money and property has been recovered, said detective Denny Upton of the Johnson police. Upton declined to say how much was recovered nor would he confirm an exact amount of money that was taken. He said that the amount stolen was between $ 140, 000 and $ 160, 000.
Silvey and Anderson were not invited to the party, Upton said. “It was the old ‘ she invited some friends, that invited some friends that invited some friends, ’” Upton said.
