New rehab center now ready for patients Walnut Grove Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is expected to start accepting patients today at its Springdale facility at 1393 Don Tyson Parkway, which is near Old Missouri Road and East Robinson Avenue. The $ 7 million building will house short- and longterm-care residents and offer private and semiprivate rooms along with personalized email addresses for use on a shared computer. Physical, speech and occupational therapies will be offered through an affiliation with Reliant Rehabilitation, a Baton Rouge-based business specializing in geriatric care.
Bobby Rotolo, 49, a former construction worker who operates the business with his brother, said ground will be broken this fall for a 90-bed nursing home in Little Rock.
Briar Hill Management owns and operates the Walnut Grove center. The family-owned business based in Ridgeland, Miss., also operates six nursing homes in Mississippi and one in Louisiana. Express sues Wal-Mart over advertisement Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is being sued by U. S. clothingstore chain Express LLC over claims the “Express for Less” advertising slogan is a misleading trademark violation.
Wal-Mart, based in Bentonville, began using the phrase in April, potentially deceiving shoppers into thinking its tank tops and shorts are the same as Express, ’ according to the infringement lawsuit filed Monday in federal court in New York.
“Consumers are likely to be confused or deceived into believing that defendant offers genuine Express brand apparel, which it does not,” Express, a closely held company with more than 620 stores, said in the complaint.
Wal-Mart filed a federal trademark application for “Express for Less” in October, according to the suit. Express, based in Columbus, Ohio, said it is challenging the application at the U. S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Express, which had sales last year of more than $ 1. 5 billion, is seeking money damages and a court order banning the Wal-Mart slogan.
Wal-Mart spokesman Sharon Weber declined to comment.
Wal-Mart’s stock fell 33 cents, or 0. 57 percent, to $ 57. 12 in New York Stock Exchange composite trading. Arkansas 20 gains 2. 18; Dillard’s jumps 2. 8 %
The Arkansas 20, a priceweighted index that tracks public companies based in the state, rose 2. 18 to 196. 13 on Thursday.
Fourteen stocks traded higher, five lower and one remained unchanged.
Dillard’s Inc. gained 2. 8 percent in light trading.
Equity Media lost 3. 5 percent on only 6 percent of its average volume.
Volume on the index was 30 million shares. The average daily volume is 36. 3 million shares.
The index was developed by Bloomberg News and the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette with a base value of 100 as of Dec. 30, 1997.
